A little life update for #GabbyPacksLight...

Gabby Beckford and I, first met in Kenya. She's a resourceful and tenacious African Queen!⠀

After coming back stateside from Dubai I graduated college in December 2017, and have been job hunting since then just seeing what would stick...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, I’ve found that job, and this June I’ll be moving to Baltimore, MD for at least the next year with a job as an engineer!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Part of me is conflicted because having a 9-5 with 2 weeks vacation... Gives me anxiety In college you could work with your professors to adjust for a trip, travel during school breaks, or just skip class...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve been informed you can’t skip work. Odd.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It will be an adjustment for me, but I’m looking forward to it and it’s going to be a great time to save for future travels (God bless an engineer’s salary!) I’ve always wanted to be a woman who represents for other black/minority women in the STEM space, and I’m proud and happy to be doing that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One thing that is also helping smooth the transition for me is the fact that I’ve booked a two week trip to Italy before work starts! Me and three girlfriends will be hitting Rome, Florence, and Cinque Terre together, and then I’ll be either doing a week around Italy or doing a short week long trip somewhere else like Malta or Tunisia.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think it’ll be an amazing last trip of my “college years”, and hopefully walking through those Italian vineyards like I am in this pic will give me some peace with this transition.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or maybe I’ll just eat my weight in pasta, gelato, and wine and get super tan and have a good a** time with some great friends—it’s a win-win either way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, if you have any tips/want to meet up in Italy OR Baltimore OR a small getaway trip I should do from Rome (Croatia? Malta? Tunisia? Barcelona?)

Around and About

Street photography is actually my favorite. Capturing unpredictable moments is more luck than art. Here we see a man snap a pic of two...
